What is the meaning of control variable?

If you mean when your doing a experiment..

A control will be the one with no variables, so you could compare your results with the control with your other tests.

Geez I'm so bad at explaining, hope you understood what I mean..What is the meaning of control variable?
the controlled variable is the part of an experiement that can lead to getting a bunch of different answers...

Fro example say your testing a fish's breathing in water... but u will get different results becuase of the controlled variables such as..... the temp of water... it may not be the same in every bowl....What is the meaning of control variable?
A control variable is a variable in an experiment which is not changed in any of the tested groups.

For example, if you are testing the effect of chocolate consumption on people, you will have 2 groups:

One group who stopped eating chocolate, and one group who continued to eat chocolate.

So, the control variable will possibly be the living conditions of the tested groups, or any other factor which must not be changed IN ORDER TO HAVE A FAIR EXPERIMENT. Hope that helps. :D
