Whats a control group, independent variable, and dependent variable?

Whats a control group, independent variable, and dependent variable? HELP!! this is due this saturday!!!Whats a control group, independent variable, and dependent variable?
The control group is the group that the experimental groups are being compared to.

The independent variable is a variable that does not rely on the other variable.

The dependent variable depends on the independent variable.

Example: A scientist wanted to see if he could make plants grow faster by using milk instead of water. The control group would be water. The experimental group would be milk. The independent variable would be the milk and water. The dependent variable would be the time it takes for the plant to grow BECAUSE the time it takes for the plant to grow will depend on whether your using milk or water.Whats a control group, independent variable, and dependent variable?
In an experiment there is usually a control group and an experimental group. The control group is the group which has nothing done to it other than normal maintenance. Dependent variables are those which you can control and independent variables are those which you can't control.

Example: Use of plant food on bean plants. You must use both the same plants at the same level of growth for both the experimental group and the control group. In the control group the dependent variables are the amount of water you give it, location in sunlight and the pot. These variables are the same for your experimental group with the only change being the addition of plant food to the experimental plants. Independent factors may be the amount of sunlight that both receive, since you can't control the weather or any chemicals in the water since you cannot control the water source .
independent is what you change

dependent relises on what you change

control group are the things that stay the same through the whole experiment
