What would my control, independet and dependent variable be if ...?

if i have 5 thermometers and i record the temperature of all 5 everyday in December at 5:00 pmWhat would my control, independet and dependent variable be if ...?
It depends upon how you use your 5 thermometers, and what hypothesis you are asking.

What is your hypothesis? (What are you asking?)

For example, if you are hypothesizing that the temperature inside your house is the same as the temperature outside your house (hopefully wrong, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere), then your Control would be something that is supposed to NOT change (for example, inside your refrigerator?).

Your independent variable would be something independent of the variables being tested (inside a freezer for example). The dependent variables are dependent upon your experiment, so would include thermometers both inside and outside your house.

That leaves 1 thermometer over, which you can ';rotate'; between all the other positions, to make sure all your thermometers are working similarly (similarly calibrated)
