What is the difference between a manipulated variable and controlled variable?

in science. [:What is the difference between a manipulated variable and controlled variable?
The controlled variable is the observation that is measured before and after the experiment. This provides the observable changes.

The manipulated variable is the item that is changed during the experiment to obtain different data.

Example: You are testing the heat that plants are healthiest. The heat is the manipulated variable, and the plant is the controlled variable.

The controlled variable is always kept in the same condition (except of course, for the manipulated variable). There is usually only one manipulated variable, but there might be more than one controlled variable. What is the difference between a manipulated variable and controlled variable?
the manipulated variable is simply the part of the experiment that is being changed around by the experimentor! : ) the controlled variable is having nothing out of the ordanary changed about it!

For example, if you set up an experiment to see if plants would grow faster in water or diferent water subsitutes and you had 2 plants in a pot getting an equal amount of oxygen, sunlight, and soil. One plant you fed water and the other you fed ammonia. The Manipulated variable would be the ammonia...because it is the variable you changed. the control variable would be the water because you didn't change that b/c plants normally drink waterrr ; )

hope that helps!!
